- PURPOSE OF THIS POLICY We are committed to limiting the risk of modern slavery practices in our business and supply chain. - WHO THIS POLICY APPLIES TO This policy applies to all individuals involved in our business, including employees, directors, officers, labour hire staff, contractors, and suppliers. While this policy is not part of any contract, you are expected to comply with it. Non-compliance may result in termination of business relationships or disciplinary action.
- WHAT IS MODERN SLAVERY? Modern slavery is the deprivation of a person’s freedom for commercial gain and in violation of fundamental human rights. It includes coercion, threats, or deception to exploit victims and undermine their freedom.
Forms of modern slavery include: - Slavery (owning or trading in people, human trafficking) - Forced labour (compelling someone to work under coercion) - Servitude (restricted freedom of movement) - Forced marriage (without full, free consent) - Debt bondage (working to repay unfair debts) - Deceptive recruiting (misleading workers or withholding ID) - Child labour (exploitation, unsafe conditions, or loss of education) - INDICATORS OF MODERN SLAVERY Indicators may include individuals who: - Lack access to their passport or ID - Are controlled or coached by others - Are isolated or fearful - Have injuries or signs of abuse - Have little control over finances or movement
These indicators are not exhaustive but warrant attention. - WHY WE LIMIT MODERN SLAVERY RISKS Preventing modern slavery protects our workers, business reputation, and ensures compliance with Australian law.

- YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES All individuals must ensure the business and supply chain remain free from modern slavery. You must: - Participate in all training - Conduct due diligence on suppliers and contractors - Remain alert to slavery indicators - Use approved contracts with modern slavery clauses - Report any suspicions promptly
- REPORTING CONCERNS If you suspect modern slavery, contact: Tim Dawborn – tim@dawbornsteels.com.au If there is immediate danger, contact the police. Victims may be at risk, so consult with Tim before acting unless urgent.
